A Forgotten Prayer

This morning when I woke up,
I was really running late.
I started toward the door.
But, a voice said, "Son, please wait."

Now, I knew without a doubt
what my Father had to say.
You see, I got up this morning
and had forgotten to pray.

This was not the promise
I had made with Him before.
The last time we were talking,
I was kneeling on the floor.

He said, "Without My guidance
your life is like a ship out on the blue.
And with no set destination,
there is no hope for you.

But if you come to Me each morning,
I'll protect you through the day.
And if you listen to My voice just if,
in case you'll hear Me say,

"Son, I don't believe
that move is the best for you,
but with a loving heart and open ears,
I will shortly get you through."
