There was a heavy, price to be paid, for the freedom of everyone; Paid for by this ~ our sweet loving Savior that is God's Son. Oh, the bloody stripes by which our bodies are healed from hurt and disease. It was God's Son, Jesus, who CHOSE to be scourged. Let us fall to our knees. They nailed His dear hands to the old, hard, and roughened Cross that day ~ Slapped Him on the Cross and without regret ~ did His dear feet the same way. Oh, sweet Jesus, what have we done, as a people, to take it on our hearts to atone? For, it was, ultimately, our sins, our very evil nature, that let Thee go there, all alone. Only, we know you were not alone. Thy Father, God, I know, was deeply pained As, when Thy body gave up the ghost, He split the veil and, then, flooded the rain; Washing Thy sacred blood down the hill ~ maybe to cleanse the awesome place Where Thou died, sweet Jesus, for our sins, and Thine eyes closed in Thy sweet face. Thou said, "Forgive them, Father for they know not what they do." How great Thou art To suffer so drastically and think of the ones who did this, to Thy body, from Thy heart. But, Lord, we know no man had a hand in the Miracle that was born that day. We know it was from Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that deemed it to be this way. None other, lest they boast, Lord, it was Thee who split the skies and went into hell To take the keys from Satan and, in Thy wonder, take away the veil That we may see, clearly, to worship Thee and let our heart and soul surely know That this had to be for mankind to be saved so, into Heaven, we have a choice to go. © 2004 by Pearlie Duncan Walker
